BWEF Burkina Faso Visit by Safia
in October 2021
Due to the security situation and Covid-19, Fred was not able to travel to Burkina Faso in 2021. Instead he proposed to Safia Morvannou, Burkinabé and BWEF France Vice-President, that when she visited her family in Burkina Faso, she also did some work for BWEF on the side.
Day 1
25 October 2021 - morning
Safia Morvannu is a member of our board in France. She is also Burkinabè.
Due to the security situation and Covid-19, Fred did not travel to Burkina this year. Instead he proposed to Safia that the next time she visits her family, she does some work for BWEF on the side. Safia agreed. She arrived in Ouagadougou on Sunday, 24 October and began a round of meetings on Monday morning, starting with Christine, our one salaried employee.
Day 1
25 October 2021 - afternoon
In the early afternoon, Safia had lunch with Christiane Toé, responsible for all our affairs in Burkina Faso. With her was Mariam Ilboudo, the representative of our US affiliate, Chance for Change. Christine joined in.
Day 2
26 October 2021 - morning
Safia continued work for us on Tuesday, starting with a meeting at the hotel with Guémilatou, in her first year of formation as a topographer. Guémilatou was a member of our soccer team.

26 October 2021 - afternoon
Safia again had lunch with Mme Toé and Christine. She then returned to the hotel to meet with Roukiétou, Roukiétou is a first-year student in laboratory analysis, an interesting major.
Day 3
27 October 2021
Christine rented a car and she, Safia and Abdoulaye drove two hours to Koudougou, Burkina Faso’s third-largest town. Their first stop was Noëlie’s dressmaking school which we subsidize.
Day 4
28 October 2021
Safia started her last day in Ouagadougou with a visit to her sister Djénéba’s clinic, Yerelon+. Djénéba is our Health Fund representative in Ouagadougou and her clinic attracts funding from European and American sources, including USAID.
Day 5+
October-November 2021
Safia flew to her hometown, Bobo-Dioulasso, on Friday 29 October. Over the next week, she spent a lot of time with her family, but also did work for us, starting with a general meeting on Saturday organized by Anne-Géraude, our “captain” for Bobo.
