BWEF Graduates

Where are they now?

Since BWEF started in 2010, 84 female students have completed their studies, all of them sponsored by BWEF. The young women graduated in a variety of areas, such as nursing, midwifery, teaching, medicine, accountancy, agriculture, law, hydrology, journalism, communication, translation/interpretation, development planning, computer science, human resources, dress-making, sustainable development, civil engineering, archaeology. Many of them have since been integrated professionally. 

Below are the stories of some of the BWEF Graduates who have overcome poverty and, in some cases, physical adversity to excel in their studies and start their professional careers.

  • Natacha 2013-2015

    We sent Natasha to the prestigious agricultural institute Matourku. She now works for the Government advising farmers on best practices.

  • Rajaa 2014-2019

    Rajaa, is working in Luxembourg for a big tech company. She's our first graduate to work outside Burkina Faso.

  • Hélène 2010-2017

    After getting her Master's in accounting with our support, Hélène worked as chief accountant for two universities and now works for an international NGO. She now has a better-paying job with an NGO, the Marie Stokes Foundation.

  • Diane 2011-2017

    Diane is bursar of a lycée in the town of Bondokuy, about 300 km west of Ouagadougou.

  • Pélagie 2011-2014

    Pélagie works for the American NGO, Catholic Relief Services, as a water, hygiene and sanitation infrastructure manager.

  • Rita 2014-2018

    Rita is a doctor now working full-time in a hospital.
